As part of Global Summer 2025, Mr. Neil Richard Hunt, professor at the University of Portsmouth, taught the Image Post-production course to Film students, sharing processes, structures, and practices of the United Kingdom's audiovisual industry.

Students from the Film degree program participated in the Master Class titled "The Postproduction in England," a space where Neil Richard Hunt shared his experience in the field of audiovisual postproduction. With background in both teaching and professional realms, Hunt addressed different facets of the British industry, providing a comprehensive view of the work behind the cameras.

The session was structured into four main blocks: high-level postproduction houses, television networks and streaming platforms, small independent production companies, and the role of *freelancers* in the industry. Through examples and audiovisual materials, attendees learned about the work of companies like PictureShop and Framestore, involved in productions such as Harry Potter, Downton Abbey, and Paddington.

Hunt also proposed a reflection on the cultural orientation of the main British audiovisual exports, noting their tendency to place stories in historical contexts. This look at the past, he explained, coexists with contemporary technologies applied to production and postproduction.

During the class, the relevance of sustainable practices within the industry was also addressed. Tools such as LED lights and drones were mentioned, as well as certifications like Albert, designed to promote environmentally responsible processes.

At another point in the session, Mr. Neil Richard explained the complexity of the postproduction workflow, from receiving files to the final delivery of the product. He also highlighted the need for technical knowledge, organizational skills, and coordination between different teams to complete this work. He also shared experiences of graduates from his courses who currently collaborate with companies like IMG or have founded independent production companies such as Sizzle Studios.

The Master Class offered students a general overview of the processes, tools, and dynamics that shape audiovisual postproduction work within the British context.
